Plants need water and sunlight to grow.

Some plants have flowers and some do not.

Flowers are pretty but so are leaves.

Many plants can be grown as food. Humans can eat flowers, fruit, bark, leaves, and even the roots of plants! A flower I eat is an artichoke. My favorite fruit is watermelon. When I use cinnamon in my cookies, I am actually using bark! The leaves I like to eat are spinach. Carrots and potatoes are my favorite plant roots. I like to garden many plants that I can eat. This year we will grow peas, zucchini, tomatoes, and watermelon.

I like to grow my own food in my garden. We do not have a farm but we have a small garden where I grow some vegetables. I also have a pear tree that I get fruit from.

Plants are not only beautiful, but also important. We depend on plants to survive!
