Why are we excited about creation apps?

Because creation apps are:

  • easy to use (for us and for our students)
  • easy to share and publish (eg. onto Camera Roll, Email, .epubs, etc.)
  • multipurpose…. one good app can create a broad range of activities, allowing those activities to be age appropriate and specific to the needs and goals of the student
  • The FIS ICT Resources Web Page offers insight into why to use creation apps and even more ideas to get you started.

Differentiate Classroom Instruction

  • Print vocabulary is more difficult to attain than oral vocabulary because it relies upon quick, accurate, and automatic recognition of the written word.

  • Students who have a difficult time writing should be given opportunities to show their understanding of skills and objectives in other ways besides only written.

  • Instructions that are recorded with visual clues, can be paused and rewatched offer more chances for students to learn.

Flip Your Classroom

The flipped classroom is a pedagogical model in which the typical lecture and homework elements of a course are reversed. Short video lectures are viewed by students at home before the class session, while in-class time is devoted to exercises, projects, or discussions.

Final Thoughts

What is the learning objective?

Do students have multiple ways of getting help?

Do students have multiple ways to show their understanding using their personal strengths?
