Course Description:

Spanish II is a two-semester course in which students will continue to expand their Spanish language skills and cultural knowledge. Activities will focus on interpersonal and presentational communication, interpretation skills, linguistic knowledge, and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking countries. Students will improve their speaking fluency and pronunciation during this course. By the end of this course, students will be able to construct simple sentences and questions to communicate in Spanish using present, past and simple future tenses about familiar topics.

MSD Grading Scale

  • 90% Semester Work
  • 10% Final exams

Absences and Makeup Work

  • If you are absent from class, YOU are responsible for getting and making up any missing work
      • Check Google Classroom and look at Absent Work folder
      • You will have an extension equal to the days that you are absent to make up work (if absent 2 days, you have 2 days to make it up)

Late Work

Work will be considered late if it is not turned in at the beginning of class. Late work will be accepted until the end of the unit of study.

  • 1 day late - 10% off - 2 days late - 20% off - 3-7 days late - 50% off
  • Work turned in over a week late will not be accepted.
  • Extensions may be given to students who contact me before an assignment is due to request one

Procedures and Expectations

      • Limit distractions (including with technology)
  • Be respectful and understanding
      • Listen when others are speaking
      • Treat others property with respect

Consequences

If a student chooses not to meet these expectations, the following consequences will be followed:

  • Verbal Warning
  • Conversation after class
  • Email/phone call home
  • Office referral

Additional Policies

  • NO PHONES - Everything needed for class is accessible on your Chromebooks. Phones are not permitted for use in class, and should be kept in backpack.
      • This includes airpods in ears during class activities
  • Food/Drinks - You may have snacks and drinks in class, as long as you clean up after yourself. Snacks should be quiet and cannot contain peanuts or tree nuts.
  • Pass - After getting permission to leave the room, fill out your agenda and return it to Profe Kohlmeier to sign.
  • Retakes - summative tests or quizzes may be retaken only if the student:
    • Creates a retake plan: Email Profe Kohlmeier with a detailed plan for how you’ll study to prepare for the test or quiz retake.
    • Includes study targets: specific goals for what you need to study.
    • Gets approval: Profe Kohlmeier must approve your plan before you can schedule your retake.
    • Completes the plan: Finish all the study goals you’ve listed before scheduling your retake with Profe Kohlmeier.

*The retake score will be the new grade.

Honor Code

  • Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated. It will result in automatic zeros for ALL persons involved as well as communication with the parents or guardians.
  • The use of Google Translate or other online translators is prohibited.
    • If a translator is suspected of being used, you will be given the option to redo the assignment for full points or be given a zero.
