Echo-

What sound do you hear in the final position of these words?

baffle ruffle stifle

bundle cradle fiddle

dimple apple simple

What sound do you hear in the final position? /ful/, /pul/, /dul/. What do we call these letters that make these sounds? (final stable syllables) They are in the final position, the don’t change and they have their own vowel sound. Code with brackets and cross out the ‘e’.

baffle, ruffle, stifle; dimple, apple, simple; bundle, cradle, fiddle

Let’s code these words!

scrambled

stables

feelings

What do you see on the end of the final, stable syllables? (suffixes -ed and -s). Some words will contain both final stable syllables and suffixes. WHen you see such words, box the suffixes first. Code together. Scrambled looks a little funny now because the e in the final stable syllable is missing. Let’s go ahead and bracket off the final stable syllable , then finish coding the word. Continue to code the remaining words with all the coding marks, suffixes first.

Spell and Code correctly.
