Dear 5th grade parents,

Today your child received their Character and Expert cards for the Revolutionary War Walk Through! This is an amazing on campus field trip where students dress up and are given a part of the American Revolution Timeline. Students need to memorize their parts to present on April 16th. Our class will be doing the Walk Through first thing in the morning, so please join us if possible to watch this entertaining presentation.

Permission slips for our next field trip ( May 15th) will be going home tomorrow.

Dear 5th grade parents,

Today in your child’s homework folder is the Unit 6 Parent Letter. Remember this needs to come out of the folder and should be used to check your child’s homework. It also contains Homelink answers, math vocabulary, math games, and a summary of what we are learning in the classroom.

Dear 5th grade parents,

We had a great day on our field trip to Sacramento. Students enjoyed the capital tour as well as the 3D Extreme Whether Movie. We were fortunate enough to meet our Assemblyman Kiley, and go down on the assembly floor to have our picture taken. Thank you to all who chaperoned today! Our Valentine party is Wed. Feb 14th from 12:30 to 2:30. I will be sending home a class list in their Thursday folders for students to make to Valentines.

Students have completed Unit 1, which consisted of Subject & Predicate, Spelling/Phonics,Vocabulary, Idioms, and Character, Setting, Plot, Problem & Solution of a story.

We have also been working on Information Reading Passages and Summer T-shirt Writing, as well as I am Poems and Letter to the Teacher.

Please remember to check and sign reading logs weekly.

Social Studies

The last few weeks have been focused on Understanding the meaning of the pledge of Allegiance, and starting our 1st unit of Native Americans and the 4 main regions they came from.

Students have made their own Pledge of Allegiance book and will be making a 4 square project of the lifestyles of Native Americans in 4 different regions

We have also completed our Digital Citizenship Unit, which teaches the importance of being safe on Technology

Math

We have just complete Unit 1.

Monday 9/11 will be review and

Tuesday 9/12 will be the Assessment.

I am sending home a study guide self assessment sheet with page numbers in the SRB (student reference book) for students to use to review unit 1 concepts prior to the test.
