►Use whatever setup is easiest — one that can record to a compressed audio file format that is easily uploaded to your assignment page.
►Options include laptop, phone or mobile recording device. Think about software.
►Think before using your phone. You won’t be able to take calls, and should avoid using it to text or take photos while recording. Set phones to airplane mode.
►Make sure your recording device is fully charged. The ideal location for sound might not be near an outlet. Bring a charger in case the meeting runs long.
►Use your device’s built-in microphone, they are often better than external mics.
►Listen, then locate yourself or your recorder away from sources of room noise.
(fans, talking audience members, doors opening/closing, etc.)
►If there are loudspeakers placed in the room and everyone is speaking into microphones, consider sitting by the loudspeaker and recording it.
