Please Note: Students do not earn credit for any classes that they fail (59% or lower); they will need to retake that course to earn credit.

11th and 12th graders who have a 3.7 GPA or higher in the fall, receive an invitation to go through the selection process.

Students are evaluated on the 4 Pillars:

    • Scholarship: 3.7 GPA or higher

    • Service: 25+ hours (Juniors), variety of hours, cannot use hours from other honor societies

    • Leadership: both in school and the community; examples include elected positions, team captain, etc.

    • Character: Shows respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, compassion, and integrity.

WHS 11th and 12th graders have the opportunity to enroll in CTE (Career & Technology Education) classes at Salem High School or Pinkerton Academy.

The emphasis of the CTE programs is on both

college and career readiness. Programs are for students of all abilities, skill levels, and

post-secondary aspirations.

HOW DOES CTE WORK

  • Programs are open to juniors and seniors.
  • Classes run for 2 Blocks and will take the place of 2 classes/credits at WHS.
  • Transportation will be provided to and from WHS, students can not drive.
  • Programs provide: internship opportunities, industry certifications, CTE service organizations (FBLA, HOSA, Skills USA, and National Technical Honor Society), college credit, and/or employment.

    • Credits can transfer to most colleges and Universities
