Optimistic Closure

“Let’s Chat!”

SEL Learning Objective:

Participants will be practicing the SEL Competencies: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social-Awareness and Decision-Making.

Time:

Plan for a 4 minute set up and model of the activity; have students write their response in the chat feature (if remote), or on a post- it (if in-person) then ask for 1-3 people to share out.

Steps:

Model the activity for participants.
Ask participants to think about something they learned today or about an activity they participate in.
Select one or two questions to respond to.

Modifications and Variations:

This optimistic closure can be facilitated in person or remote at the end of a session or end of a week. If time doesn’t allow for a virtual share out, participants can chat in their answers in to the chat box.
