I believe that respect is the foundation of a successful relationship. On the screen you can also see some of my other key expectations for students. I want to specifically discuss my cell phone policy. Cell phones are a part of our daily lives, but I fear that our students are becoming too dependent on needing almost constant interaction through their phones. I am stressing that phones should be put away during direct instruction and collaborative time so that students can be present in the moment and focused on myself and their classmates. If a student has a phone out without permission (even if they aren’t using it) they will receive a warning to put it away. If a second offense occurs within the same period I will again ask that the device be put away and send an email home to let you know. Should the issue contain within the same period I will be documenting it with a behavior referral.
