1. TRANSLATORY MOTION

  • When all points of a body moves uniformly along the same straight line, such Motion is called as Translatory Motion.

Motion of a Train on straight track is in Translatory Motion or Linear Motion.

SUB-TYPES OF TRANSLATORY MOTION

  • It is further classified into following types:
    • Linear Motion
    • Circular Motion
    • Random Motion

LINEAR MOTION

  • The Motion of any object along straight path is known as Linear Motion.

For Example, the motion of bus in straight line.

CIRCULAR MOTION

  • Motion of a body along a circular path is called circular motion.
  • For Example:
      • An artificial satellite moving around the Earth along circular path is an example of circular motion

  • Irregular motion of an object is called random motion.

  • The motion of the body around a fixed axes which passes through body itself is called spin or rotatory motion.
