CHILDREN’S ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT (COPPA)
The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) specifically aims to protect the privacy of children under the age of 13 by requesting parental consent for the collection or use of any personal information of the users. The Act took effect in April 2000 and was revised in 2013. The Act was passed in response to a growing awareness of Internet marketing techniques that targeted children and collected their personal information from websites without any parental notification. The Act applies to commercial websites and online services that are directed at children.

Cyberbullying�720 ILCS 5/26.5-3�Harassment through electronic communications
A person commits harassment through electronic communications when he or she uses electronic communication for any of the following purposes:
Making any comment, request, suggestion or proposal which is obscene with an intent to offend; Threatening injury to the person or to the property of the person to whom an electronic communication is directed or to any of his or her family or household members.
Cyber Stalking Law�720 ILCS 5/12-7.5
(a) A person commits cyberstalking when he or she engages in a course of conduct using electronic communication directed at a specific person, and he or she knows or should know that would cause a reasonable person to:
(1) fear for his or her safety or the safety of a third person; or
(2) suffer other emotional distress.
(a-3) A person commits cyberstalking when he or she, knowingly and without lawful justification, on at least 2 separate occasions, harasses another person through the use of electronic communication and:
(1) at any time transmits a threat of immediate or future bodily harm
False Personation�720 ILCS 5/17-2
(2.5) A person commits a false personation when he or she knowingly and falsely represents himself or herself to be:
(A) another actual person and does an act in such assumed character with intent to intimidate, threaten, injure, defraud, or to obtain a benefit from another; or
(B) a representative of an actual person or organization and does an act in such false capacity with intent to obtain a benefit or to injure or defraud another.
Sextortion�720 ILCS 5/11-9.1�Sexual Exploration of a child
(a-5) A person commits sexual exploitation of a child who knowingly entices, coerces, or persuades a child to remove the child's clothing for the purpose of sexual arousal or gratification of the person or the child, or both.
