To create a community in which both experts and beginners can grow in their cybersecurity skills and knowledge. We want to make cybersecurity simple and accessible for everyone.

A very broad term, covering concepts, tools, and practices for ensuring that systems maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Cyber Lab Project: Malware Lab

If so, this is the track for you! For this track you will…

  • Write a fully functional rootkit with remote access capabilities
  • Cover C programming, system calls, dynamic linking, networking, virtual machines, and Linux. Great preparation for CS111 and CS118

Want to write your own operating system from scratch? Check out our Secure OS Lab, where you’ll get to:

  • Make a fully functional kernel & bootloader
  • Design your own OS feature (ex. file system, secure boot, etc.)
  • Mentor: Aaron Yoo, UCLA alumni & Software Engineer at Apple

LA CTF

Hosted for the first time last February, LA CTF is UCLA’s only weekend-long cybersecurity event and CTF competition. We will host the next LA CTF in February 2024.

Our previous hosting saw:

  • Speakers like cybersecurity YouTuber John Hammond, cyber alumni, and UCLA professors like Carey Nachenberg.
  • Fun events like CS meme competition
  • Free food and free merch!
  • (And last but certainly not least) A 42 hour long CTF competition with near-perfect ratings on CTFTime
