The implementation of EAM inspection checklist is a new function in Asset Management, Maintenance Management as of Release SAP S/4HANA 2021.

Checklist are very often needed in Plant Maintenance to perform regular inspections and checklist of Assets (Equipments and Functional Locations), and can serve as a legally binding documentation. (example, proof of annual building safety checks etc).

Regular Inspection can be generated via the Maintenance Plans and manual Maintenance Orders can be created to trigger Checklist (Inspection lots) for FL and EQs.

The main trigger mechanism for the generation of an Inspection Checklist (Inspection lot) assigned to the Maintenance Order is triggered by:

  • Classification data assigned to the Equipment and Functional Location.
  • Classification data assigned to the Inspection Plan.
  • Checklist type assigned to the Maintenance Task List Operation copied to the Maintenance Order or entered manually in the Maintenance Order operation.

Field "Checklist type" is defined at operation of maintenance order and maintenance task list. The field value indicates what inspection plan is to be used for the operation.

At generation of inspection checklists, there is a specific classification characteristic at QM inspection plan that matches with maintenance order operation field "Checklist type". This classification characteristic name is defined in transaction IW98: column “Characteristic of inspection plan” with constant value “EAM_CL_TYPE” in column “Characteristic of Technical Object”.

You define checklist types and language-dependent texts in transaction IW99.
