D3D Final Assembly Script

Note: The machine in CAD must correspond exactly to the machine in Real Life

Note that here we must verify here that the assemblies from before are made correctly. This means that if we use the modules that we already have done assembly videos for, they should result in the correct Final Machine Assembly. Therefore, in the Final Assembly procedure - we should be using the modules that we already made instructionals for - as a verification that the former modules are correct.

XY Assembly

  • Place the frame in front of you. Orientation does not matter.
  • Take the left Y axis and attach the axis to the upper left inside part of the frame, with the stepper motor to the back of the frame. Make the attachment about 1.5 inches below the top of the frame, so the bolts on the back of the carriage remain accessible.
  • Take the right Y axis, and attach to the upper right inside of the frame, with the stepper motor to the back of frame. Attach at the same height as the other Y axis.
  • Take the X axis with the stepper motor on the left hand side, with the motor facing away from you.
  • Insert the X axis between the carriages of the 2 Y axes, and attach the X axis in a vertical position - using the 2 bolt holes on the front side of the Y carriages.
  • Use the 6 by 30 mm bolts to make the attachment into the nut catchers of the X axis. Screw down securely, but not so hard that you break the plastic.

Z Axis

  • Take the Z axis and attach it on the back inside the frame, with the stepper motor at the bottom
  • Take the Bed Assembly, and attach it to the bottom holes of the Z carriage.
  • Use two m6 by 30 bolts to attach to the nut catchers inside the Bed Assembly printed piece. Screw down securely.

COMPONENT MOUNTING

  • Attach the extruder using the magnetic holderso that the extruder faces back
  • Take the first cable chain, and mount magentically to the top of the carriage, with the chain poining right and then wrapping around to attach by the X stepper motor to the rod.
  • Take out the upper right bolt of the X motor mount and use a 30 mm bolt instead to mount the second cable chain.
  • Attach the controller at the top left rear part of the frame.
  • Attach the power supply on the left hand side of the frame on the rear left vertical frame member
  • Attach the end-stops to the X and Y axes
  • Attach the filament spool holder by taking the rods, attaching them to magnets, and attaching the spool holder to the frame.
  • Then wire the Controller.
