Bus Transportation:

MCPS Transportation has the names and addresses of every student who will be coming to these SVHS programs. Transportation will be provided.

  • If you decide to drive, please contact our Business Administrator, Monique Riddick Monique_N_Riddick@mcpsmd.org to apply for a parking permit.

  • For students who attend the AM session, they will utilize a bus route that gets them from a CENTRAL STOP to SVHS.
  • The pickup times to SVHS are BEFORE when the normal buses to your high school arrive.
  • In other words, you will NOT be able to use your home school’s bus schedule to get you to the to the CENTRAL STOP.

Students prepare for high demand careers and develop skills in the HVAC, Electricity and Carpentry trades through classroom and laboratory.

  • Students taught using an industry-recognized construction apprenticeship training program- NCCER curriculum
  • Same course that is taught to trades professionals as they are seeking to fulfill their apprenticeship requirements
  • Module based program with a blend of in-class and hands-on learning
  • Students can earn NCCER certifications

  • Program developed by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLEI) to prepare students for roles in the hospitality and tourism industry and beyond.

  • Completion of program, including 100 hours of industry-mentored work-based learning experience in a hospitality and tourism establishment, students can earn the Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional Certification.

HTMP Highlights

  • Introduces the hospitality & tourism industry on a global scale with a large focus on diversity
  • Focuses on developing students’ managerial and leadership skills
  • Delivered via traditional textbooks/workbooks. Also, incorporates current technology with online coursework

  • Information Technology and Cybersecurity Program offers a broad range of career-related computer science, networking, cybersecurity, and industry certification options.

  • SVHS offers the Cybersecurity capstone course which will prepare students for the demands of college curriculum and industry credentials and certifications. Students will master a variety of Cybersecurity skills by applying knowledge through their participation in actual and virtual exercises, including preparation for Cybersecurity competitions and CompTIA Security+ exam.
