Overview

In this session, we will review early recommendations from a workgroup regarding an updated Peer Online Course Review (POCR) rubric, how this tool supports faculty statewide, and the benefits of ensuring we are meeting the needs of our 2.1 million students. This session will include an opportunity for participants to give critical feedback on the latest POCR rubric revisions, particularly about meeting equity needs.

Scope of Work Overview

The primary task of this workgroup is to revise the existing CVC Course Design Rubric with a focus on the following areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): Incorporating guidelines for the ethical and effective use of AI tools in online courses.
  • Regular Substantive Interaction (RSI): Ensuring that the revised rubric strengthens and clarifies standards for instructor-student interaction, aligned with federal and accreditation guidelines.
  • Privacy/Security: Updating the rubric to address the increasing importance of data privacy and cybersecurity in online education.
  • Equity: Emphasizing the role of equity in course design to ensure that all students, particularly underserved populations, benefit from high-quality online education.

Equity and Accessibility Integration

  • The workgroup has discussed how to approach equity and accessibility within the rubric.

  • Accessibility is currently in discussion, with some elements being integrated and other placement ideas being discussed.
