All Saints Day

The Church designates the month of November as the time when we remember in a special way those who have gone before us. We pray for our deceased loved ones in the hope that they are with our Lord in Heaven. The month of October concludes with the tradition of Halloween or the Eve of All Hallows (Saints). November begins with 2 special days. The Celebration of All Saints Day November 1 A solemnity when we remember the great gift of all those who are in heaven with Jesus. On November 2 we celebrate All Souls day. We remember and pray for those who are awaiting Heaven in purgatory. Throughout the month we continue our prayers for those who have died.

Our 4th graders dressed in their Saint costumes at the All School Mass Friday. This is a wonderful tradition. No better role models in life than the Saints.

Prayers for the Dead

During the month of November,we focus on the spiritual work of mercy to pray for the dead. We will place prayer intentions in a box located in the main hallway. Students may place the name of a deceased loved one in the box and we will pray for them each morning. This is an opportunity for your family to reflect and remember those family and friends who have died. Write their name on a small piece of paper and have your children place them in the box and know of our prayers for them.

New look for servers coming this Advent

The beginning of Advent this year on Sunday November 30, will also be the advent of new vestments for our altar servers. The old ones are showing wear and it is time to update. The boys and girls will wear different styles. The boys will wear the familiar black cassock and white surplice. The girls will wear a white cassock and a black scapular. The different cuts and styles are are appropriate in their design and fit for boys and girls. The vestments are a visible sign of the ministerial role of the altar server in the celebration of the Mass. The altar server does not just help the priest, but participates in a special way in the great sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. To compliment the new server vestment, all servers will also be asked to wear either dress shoes, or black shoes while serving at mass. This way even at home a server will know that those are my “serving shoes” a constant reminder of the great honor to assist in this special and sacred ministry. If any servers are not able to afford a pair of black shoes, assistance will be available.

Saint Jude, the Patron Saint of Hopeless and Impossible Causes, reminds us never to give up.

We brought all our Judes together for a meaningful photo with their patron namesake: St. Jude on his Feast Day, 10/28

Science Fair

Help needed for the Science Fair! We need committee members and judges for the science fair that takes place each February. Committee members would help with food for the judges, setup, data entry, and awards. If this sounds like something you are interested in, please contact Mrs. Crick Kcrick@stjudefw.org

Diocesan Safe Environment & Background Checks

It is wonderful to see so many parents taking part in our school events. As we approach the season full of holiday events, please remember that everyone is required to complete Diocesan Safe Environment & Background Check. You cannot participate in classroom or volunteer roles without fully completing the process. If you plan to volunteer, please start the process sooner than later to avoid any delays that may prevent you from being eligible. Thank you for understanding and helping us keep our school safe. Please contact Kris Church at the Parish Office for more information. 484-6609 or Kchurch@stjudefw.org

Classroom Safe Environment Lessons

The classroom Safe Environment lessons for grades Pre-k through grade 8 will be completed this month. We are required by the diocese to account for every student in our school, including those who were absent on the day the lesson was presented to their class. I will send home with the students who missed the lesson due to absences a letter for their parents with instructions as to where to find the training on the school website. You can access the information here: go to https://www.stjudefw.org/school/, go to academics tab, scroll down to Social Worker. Choose the link that is the appropriate grade level for your child/children. Also, print, sign, & return the “Verification form” to me as soon as possible. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at 484-4611 or nhowe@stjudefw.org.
