Similarities and Differences.
The similarities is that they all have scene headings so they are aware of what’s happening. All characters name are in capital letters. When two or more people speak at the same time their speech is placed side by side in both film and radio scripts. The transitions between shots and scenes are written on the right hand side of scripts for films, radio and TV. Parentheticals are used in TV, radio and film scripts to show characters actions and attitudes.
The differences is that video games scripts are shorter than any other media script. Action is written in Italics. In video games, the dialogue and action is aligned in the same line.
Conventions.
Tv and film are written in the same way because they are very similar(both visual). Both scripts must include dialogue and description of what is happening when there's no dialogue, due to the fact that both are visual.
A gaming script has mainly narration, and some form of dialogue, but the dialogue won't make as much sense on its own due to the fact that you have to play the game to make the dialogue make sense. The conventions that radio has is cliffhanger Endings. Used in both audio and visual as a way of keeping interest of the listener. By not giving them everything, the writer keeps them interested while allowing the listener to have their own experience. Narration and Direct Speech is also a convention with no visual the audience is effectively blind. A narrator breaking the “fourth wall” and talking directly to the listener, is the guide.
