FORCE
EDUCATIONAL WORLD
WHAT IS FORCE
Force is an agent which produces distortion in the body.
WHAT IS NEWTON
The Unit of force is Newton(N).
Newton is the amount of force required to produce 1m/s^2 acceleration in 1 Kg body.
Force is a Vector Quantity.
1kg
WHAT IS MOMENTUM
Momentum is the product of mass and velocity.
p =mv
Momentum is a vector quantity
UNIT OF MOMENTUM
Since it is product of mass and velocity.
m = kg
v= m/s
So,
The unit of Momentum is,
kgm/s
EXAMPLES ON MOMENTUM
EDUCATIONAL WORLD
Example#01
A car of mass 800 kg is moving with velocity of 2 ms . Calculate its momentum
Solution
Given data:
mass of the car = 800kg
Velocity of the car = 2m/s^2
Momentum =p=?
momentum = mass x velocity
p=(800)(2)
p = 1600kgm/s
Example#02
A 60kg object is moving at a velocity of 5 meters per second. What is its momentum?
Given data:
mass of the object = 60kg
Velocity of the object = 5m/s^2
Momentum =p=?
p = mv
p = (60)(5)
p= 300 kgm/s
