Re-opened the HS Autism classroom (There are currently five students in the program)

Utilizing recommendations from ESU Coordinator to enhance the SLE program

Implemented Flocabulary program in ELA POR classrooms

Interim Special Education Coach (Highlights)

Provides support to POR/SC classrooms at YS/FWS

Working on enhancing the SLE program at BTHS

Working with Asst Superintendent to create a new Pre-Kindergarten handbook

Special Education Supervisor (Highlights)

Provides support to new MD classrooms at BTMS and YS

Working on implementing and enhancing the SPIRE/Achieve 3000/i-Ready programs

Works closely with elementary and middle school ICR/POR/SC teachers to improve classroom practices

State Mandated Initiative

  • LRE (Least Restrictive Environment)
    • The District is in Year 3 of the LRE settlement agreement with the NJ DOE.
    • CST Members have been working with parents/guardians to discuss LRE opportunities regarding their children at respective IEP meetings.
    • NJ DOE state monitors are conducting onsite visits on Tuesday, December 11 and Wednesday, December 12.
    • The state monitors will be auditing 25 student files and will be conducting staff interviews. The state monitors will also be contacting two parents/guardians from the district and also two SEPAG parent members to discuss their opinions of LRE opportunities within the BTSD.
