Work ½ day & School ½ day

  • Most courses possible in your schedule:
    • School in the am = 4-5 courses
    • School in the pm = 3 courses
  • Meeting in the spring with Mr. White
  • 1 credit for ICE class & 1 credit for work
  • Cannot graduate early if you do ICE
  • Must have good attendance and on track to graduate

  • Dual Credit -- You earn college credit while still earning high school credit
  • You will follow Parkland’s calendar
  • PBL provides transportation
  • PBL pays ½ of the tuition

Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities

It is not a regular school course at all, you get to own your own work and behavior, and everything you do in the class is designed to connect with the real world. You need to have a strong work ethic and are trustworthy!

Highlights:

  • Funded by investors, not schools
  • Always meets in a business, never in a school
  • Students visit dozens of area businesses
  • Students learn from guest speakers
  • Students run a class business together
  • Students have a community business mentor
  • Students start and run their own businesses

  • Must have 16 core courses
  • Transcripts and test scores must be sent to eligibility center
    • Use the NCAA code 9999 when you send scores from the school SAT test date
    • See your counselor to send your transcript or any other help

Foreign Language Admissions Considerations

  • Some colleges require 2 years for admission
    • You may be required to take more at the college level
  • Some colleges accept 2 years of fine arts or foreign language
  • Some colleges don’t require either
  • Some colleges have special exemptions
    • Examples
      • UI: take 4 years and certain majors not required to take it at the college level
      • ISU: 3 years and certain majors will exempt you
