What's a Polite Way to Introduce Myself?

Today, we'll talk about how to politely introduce yourself to someone for the first time.

WHY INTRODUCING YOURSELF IS IMPORTANT:

👍 It makes a good impression. People will be more likely to want to get to know you.

👍 It helps you to talk to new people and make new friends.

👍 It builds your reputation as a mature, friendly person.

  • Use a friendly voice.
  • Use words like "Hi, my name is..."
  • Decide if you should wave, high five, or give a hug.
  • When you leave, say "It was nice to meet you."

Step 1: Look at the person.

This is the polite thing to do.

The person needs to see your face so they can learn who you are.

Step 2: Use a friendly voice.

Why do you think this is important when you're meeting someone for the first time?

How would you feel if you met a new person with a grouchy voice?

Step 3: Use words like "Hi, my name is..."

If they just met you, they will want to know your name.

You can use other words, like, "Nice to meet you!"

For example, if you're meeting a relative, you might give them a hug.
