Cogeco Neighbourhood Rinks

  • Collaboration between residents and the City of Burlington​
  • City of Burlington role:
    • Installs boards
    • Provides a rink liner
    • Provides hose for flooding and picnic table
    • Coordinates initial flood with fire department
  • Resident volunteers role:
    • Total of 6 volunteers required
    • Complete volunteer training
    • Build and maintain the ice
    • Complete daily inspection
    • Provide own water source (if required)

The program was created to help residents form connections, strengthen relationships, and build support systems for your neighbourhood.

  • Grant: up to $500 once per year
  • Residents can host:
      • Neighbourhood/social gatherings 
      • Holiday or special events
      • One-time activities or fun programs
  • Events can take place 
      • In City park/facility (Facility cost $0)
      • Residential road (barricades provided)
      • Sidewalk/front lawn
      • Outdoor private property accessible to public (parking lot, school park, etc.)

  • Community Hubs – space that may be able to be used for free
  • Play Lending Library
    • Over 100 pieces of equipment (backyard games, sports equipment, winter items)
  • Engagement (On site, Neighbourhood Ambassadors, Public living room)
    • If there is an event or opportunity in your neighbourhood or school, we would love to attend, engage with your community and support how we can.
  • Grant support through City
    • Neighbourhood Community Matching Fund
