Updates from Last year

  • Instead of the courses being automatically pushed out, they are placed in the Canvas Commons. You will be able to import any and all of the content that you wish into your course.
  • The course content has been updated since last year and most everything is now embedded within the page (as opposed to linking everything out).
  • Advanced Math courses by compacting standards courses have their own course that will be in the Canvas Commons for 6th, 7th, and those who are doing Math 1 in-person for 8th grade.

Recommendation

We do recommend using the new blueprint course instead of the one from last year. The information and questions are now embedded into the page, which students can access if they are offline (except for items linked out to websites, audio, or videos). Last year’s course, everything was linked out, so students would not be able to access content unless they were online. If you are using last years course, you can copy and paste the content from the new into yours.

Canvas Course Remote Learning

When these were created, we had no clue that we would be doing full remote learning. With that said, you will have to do some picking and choosing of questions and activities with students. All you have to do is unclick the green circle to unpublish material you do not want your students to see.

Remember that remote learning time is less than in-person time with students. Refer to the DCS Remote Learning Plan if needed.
