When Opening Schools,

Keep in Mind...

  • There is no perfect ideal plan
  • Look for the “less bad” option
  • Compliance will never be perfect
  • Expect that learning will be different
  • There will be disruptions
  • Schools may need to close unexpectedly

Face to Face/Blended Learning Daily Option Attendance Model

  • Students attend school daily or 2 to 3 times per week for face-to-face instruction with teachers as deem possible.
  • Teachers use blended learning model to be prepared for potential building closure.
  • Class size will be reduced to promote greater social distancing.
  • Non-traditional spaces are used for instruction to maximize safety.
  • Cohort model is used to build community and limit mass movement.
  • Includes Preschool and students with disabilities in separate classroom settings.

21 of 50

Face to Face/Blended LearningAdvantages & Disadvantages

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • Where feasible, students will attend school daily or two times per week and receive the support and instruction needed.

  • School district will receive regular FTE funding per student because seat time requirements will be met.

  • No issue with lack of mobile devices or connectivity at home.

  • Students will have access to both core courses and electives

  • Students with special needs or English Language Learners will receive instruction and support services.

As attendance increases, maintaining social distancing may be more difficult.

Teachers would have to quickly shift to delivering online instruction in COVID-19 cases are identified.

22 of 50

Face to Face/Blended LearningHybrid Model Concept

  • Our students will attend face to face school two days per week.
  • Our teachers will be provided with District-developed curriculum / standards-based content to modify as needed for instructional delivery for eLearning days. This will allow a seamless transition into distance learning.
  • Our schools will employ physical distancing measures meeting established thresholds.
  • Class sizes will be reduced when possible to meet safety standards.
  • Our schools will have to account for specialized classroom space needs for students with disabilities.
  • This is not an option for our PreK Programs.
