Our ancient text we claim

Has wisdom for today;

But sometimes we’re perplexed to find

Strange thoughts from far away.

Be ready; on your guard;

You do not know the time

When thieves may rob; so be awake

And so prevent the crime.

Like so, the Son of Man

Will come as a surprise;

Some will remain and others go;

What can this symbolise?

It makes no lit’ral sense;

So what is here declared?

When opportunity comes by

We need to be prepared.

No second chance may come;

We need to look and see

That as we serve, that’s when Christ says,

“You did it unto me.”
