2023 -2024 MiPHY Survey

The Michigan Profile for Healthy Youth (MiPHY) is an online, anonymous student survey developed by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) in collaboration with the Michigan Department of Community Health (MDCH).
The MiPHY is available to all Michigan schools to assess risk behaviors, risk factors, and protective factors associated with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use (ATOD), violence, sexual behavior, physical activity, and nutrition in Grade 7, 9, and 11. Fraser has been administering the MiPHY every other year since 2008.
MiPHY Facts
● Offered by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and Health and Human Services (MDHHS) every other year.
● Data is collected through a secure survey website
● Confidential, anonymous, and voluntary for students- no individual IDs to log in to survey
● Two surveys- MipHY and MiPHY Basic- students will complete the MiPHY Basic which does NOT ask questions about sexuual behaviors, suicide, depression
● Online Survey that takes 15-30 minutes to complete
● District/school results available to Superintendents and Principals
● County summary results available to the public

MiPHY For Community

The Good News…
•Student Use of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Abuse of Painkillers continues to decline.
•Student Use of Marijuana and all Prescription Drugs has not significantly increased .
•Use of Inhalants and Synthetic Marijuana (K-12), and Heroin is almost non-existent.
Trends to Watch…
•Use of E-Cigarettes and Vape Products appears to be increasing around the state.
•The Perception of Risk of Marijuana Use continues to decline.
