Decline in the Evaluation of Christianity

  • “Positive World” (before 1994) Mostly positive view of Christianity. Equated with an upstanding citizen and good person. Being Christian enhanced status. Christian norms were widely accepted
  • “Neutral World” (1994 to 2014) Being a Christian was neither a positive nor a negative. Christianity was a valid option. Christian morals had lesser effect.
  • “Negative World” (2014 to present) Being known as a Christian is a social negative. Christian morality is rejected, even seen as a threat. Promoting Christian moral views brings a negative reaction.
