Step 1: Use a calm body.

Keep your hands, your feet, and your body to yourself.

Unless you're in gym class or have another good reason, try not to wiggle, jump, spin, or wave your arms.

Step 2: If you notice your body isn't calm, stop and count to 10.

You have brakes just like a car does.

If your body isn't calm, use it to stop yourself.

Step 3: Use one of your calming tools.

For example:

Count to 20, 50, etc.

Pick a color and count all the things you see that are that color.

Keep Counting

Take Belly Breaths

Slowly breathe in through your nose, into your belly, and out through your mouth.

Ask for permission to move to a calming space or a calming room.

Ask for a Break

Step 4: Ask for help if your body won't calm down.

If your brakes and your calming tools aren't working, you need help from somebody else to calm down and stay in control.
