Our Purpose

The objective of creating a Danville Green Mountain Hometown Heroes Corporation is to honor our local veterans (living or deceased) by obtaining customized banners to be displayed on poles among managed town streets.

Who is Eligible?

Veterans, living or deceased, who were born, or grew up, lives in, and are associated with the town of Danville, Vermont.
Service members who have been honorably discharged from any branch of the U.S. military service.

How Does it Work?

1. Only one banner may be displayed per any individual service member.
2. Service members must have served in the U.S. Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, National Guard, Navy, Marine Corps, Merchant Marines and/or Space Force.
3. Sponsor(s) may pay for and purchase an additional banner for their own personal purposes; however, the additional banner will not be displayed on Town maintained roads or property.
4. Only the information provided in the application form will appear on the banner.
5. The sponsor must provide a good quality digital photo. The servicemember does not have to be in uniform in the photo.

How Does it Work?

1. Applications to put up a banner should be made available by email:

2. Banners are normally paid for by sponsors (often friends and/or family) and are the property of the sponsor(s).

The Danville GMHH should/would normally only fund banners for highly decorated soldiers with no living descendants.

3. The cost of the banner is: $190.00 payable by the sponsor to Danville GMHH who will order the banner from Holiday Outdoor Decor

4. The cost of the banner, mounting brackets, shipping charges and administrative fees are included in the cost, paid for by the sponsor(s) and will be mounted according to regulations under direction from the power company (possibly Green Mountain Power?) and the Town.
5. Banners will be placed along designated Town maintained roads; no reservations for locations.
6. A list of the banner types and designs should be made available for prospective sponsors online or otherwise.

7. The banners are made of durable material and should last a few years, family/sponsor will be contacted if replacement banners are required.
8. When banners are no longer presentable an attempt will be made to return the unserviceable banner to the sponsor. At that time, the sponsor may elect to purchase a replacement banner.
9. Neither Green Mountain Hometown Heroes nor the Town is responsible for lost, damaged or missing banners.
10. The banners will be displayed at the discretion of the Town.
11. No additional embellishment or decoration of the banners or power pole upon which they are mounted is permitted.

Our Request and Basic Details

In order to move forward, we need your approval and support, and for you to communicate with whomever has the power to authorize that the Town has permission to hang GMHH banners; perhaps Green Mountain Power (GMP)?
That the Town identify and decide on streets available to hang banners
The object would be that there is no cost to Town or to taxpayers, other than to pay for the installation by Town employees. Sponsors (Luke’ Military Museum, Private Donors, and any Veteran’s organizations who are interested in participating)
GMHH will work with the Town for monitoring the banners

We think coordinating this with the help of Dee at Green Mountain Hometown Heroes would be easiest.
