Resolution Integration:

What Is It?

Wallet integration enables a human-readable domain name (e.g. “brad.crypto”) to be converted to a crypto address.

​

Integrating domain resolution produces a simplified CX for crypto users. A user can send BTC to brad.crypto and it will go to Brad's BTC address. Similarly a user can send ETH to brad.crypto and will go to Brad's ETH address. Shapeshift <> UD Free Domain Drop/Resolution Integration

Proposal:

​

Unstoppable Domains is proposing that Shapeshift integrate to the UD/Alchemy Resolution API - This is the easiest integration due to the standardization and multi-language compatibility of REST APIs. More info here: Link

Grant:

  • $10,000 paid to Shapeshift to integrate to the UD/Alchemy API by June 15th, 2022.
  • $50 credits to purchase domains for all FOX holders

Steps to Integrating:

  1. Sign up for an Alchemy API key (free, and instant) following the documentation here
  2. Use the API Key generated in step #1 and follow the documentation to implement the GET /domains/<name>
  3. In your application where the previously was a library call for a resolve(<name>), replace it with the GET /domains/<name>
  4. The GET /domains/<name> returns all configured addresses for a domain in json, so implement logic on the return of that call similar to:
    1. If error code, handle it gracefully
    2. If no records for the domain, inform user the domain doesn’t exist
    3. If no record for the selected token for that domain, return relevant messaging to user that it isn’t configured to accept that token
    4. If record does exist for that token for that domain, then extract it from the json and proceed

Why Integrate?

​

Integrating to our Partner API enables Shapeshift users to go through the entire flow of purchasing and claiming a domain, all without leaving the Shapeshift application. The prompt to claim a domain should be added to the onboarding flow for new users and permanent placement should be added to the send/receive crypto pages in the Shapeshift wallet for existing users. Shapeshift will be credited with any purchases generated.

Value for Shapeshift:

  • Shapeshift can offer their users a naming system that is interoperable with 140+ partner applications
  • Free domains are a nice perk for existing users
  • Users will be able to also buy a premium domain which will generate revenue for the partner
  • Partners are added to our app portal, and engage in various comarketing opportunities including social media campaigns, UD newsletter, paid ads, + podcast and twitter AMA guest appearances with the goal of driving more traffic to the Shapeshift application

Revenue Generation:

​

  • Shapeshift to earn 40% revenue share on any domains purchased
  • On average, UD customers purchase 4-5 domains. By providing free domains, UD and Shapeshift would expect to convert a portion of users to paying customers

Grant:

  • $10,000 to complete integration to UD Partner API by July 15, 2022.
