Prepare Your Student Import File

  • You can create a student-information text file using your automated Student Information System (SIS). The link below will help you create the enrollment text file.
  • The program will auto generate ID, username, and passwords if you don’t supply them.

If you follow the example below, it will create your courses and classes. The minimum requirements are fields A, B, and D. If you plan on sending teacher information, please be sure to include both their first and last name.

Assign programs by performing these steps:

  1. Log into your Renaissance Place™ site as an administrator.

  • Click Courses and Classes.

  • Click Assign Products.

  • Check the new program you want to assign and check mark each class that will need access to the program and click Assign.

  • Click Done. These classes are now ready to use the program.

Main thing to check and pitfalls

Make sure that you give the students the correct URL link.

For example, https://hosted231.renlearn.com will not take you to the correct server.

You need to make sure that you have the set of numbers at the end.

Any iPad (including iPad 1) works with Renaissance Testing (Not Renaissance Reader)

Unlike PowerSchool, only 1 login for both students and teachers. Again, you must use the URL link given to you by your Renaissance Learning representative.

  • Tech person at your school needs to import student information (i.e. Export file from Powerschool)
  • Prepare the User Name and password for each of their students well in advance.
  • Create a student test account for each teacher so that teachers can get familiar with how the student takes the test.

  • Once you are logged in as an administrator, click on “Clear Locked Students” under “STUDENTS”

  • You will see all the students that are locked out. Click on “Clear” to unlock students.

  • Click on “Connect to My Renaissance Place”

  • Click on the “bullseye” to auto locate your school

  • Type in your Zip Code of your school and select your school

  • Type in the Username and Password of your test student account

  • Your school’s ID will fill in the “Connect to Renaissance Place” text box

  • To “push” the settings to other ipads, select “Share My Settings”

  • Once you see this screen, start to launch the other iPads

  • Login with student credentials

  • If you login with your test student account, the app will remember your school

  • Choose your test

  • Type in the “Monitor Password”

  • Renaissance is a timed test so let your students know not to take a break while there is a question on their screen.

  • You can pause the test and continue at a later time. The system will prompt you to type in the “Monitor Password” and it is “admin.”
