HOW TO SURVIVE MS. KIRKMAN’S CLASS

TAKES RESPONSIBILITY �WELCOME TO HIGH SCHOOL!

• This class is a graduation requirement
• You must get at least a D to get high school credit
• Consequences of not getting credit:
• Summer School/ Credit recovery
• Online courses- $45 for a quarter credit (whole year $180)
• Packets- at the high school – prices vary

MS. KIRKMAN’S GRADING POLICY

• Grading Policy
• 80% Assessment
• 20% Assignments
• I grade once a week
• Grades are updated EVERY Monday
• We will be using the 1,2, 3, 4 scale
• Test Retakes
• You will be able to retakes on Canvas- 2 days after you take the test the first time.
• Before Retakes- practice with Quizziz

IN THE PROPER PLACE

Coming In

• Get paper towel and wipe down desk
• After you wipe down desk, sanitize hands and pick up any papers on the side table
• To not be marked tardy- you need to be in your assigned seat and logging into your chromebook

Leaving the Classroom

• Floor clean
• Standing by chair – so I can spray it down
• You are not lined up by the door

HALL PASS

• 4 halls passes per qtr
• One person on the hall pass
• You need to wait until 10 minutes after the bell rings
• When you are done using the hall pass, sanitize it

GOES PREPARED

• Bring pencil/pen
• Bring chromebook charged
• Bring refillable waterbottle

ENGAGES IN LEARNING

• Being present, working on assignments, etc
• Missing work on Canvas
• Paper copies in bin on the side of the classroom
• Ask clarifying questions
• Instead of saying I don’t know, say I don’t understand…….

ELECTRONIC RULES

• Electronic Devices
• When you walk into the class, put them away- in your pocket or backpack
• Be respectful
• DO NOT KEEP YOUR EARBUDS IN YOUR EARS
• 1^st time- warning
• 2^nd time- attendance office

RESPECT SELF AND OTHERS

• Respect yourself
• Do your classwork
• If you don’t get something ask questions
• Respect others
• Don’t be annoying
• Respect other people’s ideas

WHEN I NEED TO GET YOUR ATTENTION

• I will say I need your attention in 3. 2. 1.
• You need to do stop what you are doing, look at me and stop talking by the time I get to one

• Teacher Conversation (Infraction given in Skyward)
• What is causing the behavior? What is the plan to fix it?
• Parent Contact
• Citizenship will also be lowered
• Special Seat
• Island of Isolation
• Student/Teacher/Parent Contract
• To raise citizenship grade-
• You will need to work out a plan with me
