There are over 1000 colleges in the U.S. - this website will help us narrow down our options based on our fit factors!
6
Choose a location, within the United States, for your college search! You can base your search in certain states or a certain distance from where you live!
7
Once you choose a location, you will be able to select other fit factors to further tailor your college options!
As we can see, we have over 200 options here! We want to use the other fit factor filters to narrow down this list.
Later on, you can click on a school’s name to learn more about the school (don’t do this now).
8
You will need 2 target, 2 safety, and 2 reach schools on your post-secondary list.
You can filter for this using the “admissions” filter.
Use the selectivity chart to find which selectivity band is your target, reach and safety.
For this tutorial, we are going to find target schools.
9
Use “missing SAT” if you did not take the SAT.
10
You can use the “majors” filter to make sure your college options offer the field you want to study.
11
You can use the ‘type” filter to choose between 4-year, 2-year, state schools, private schools, and identity needs (HBCUs, all women’s colleges, etc.)
12
This tab isn’t very accurate, don’t use it.
Keep in mind that public in-state schools, community colleges and very selective colleges all offer the best financial aid options.
13
Use the “campus life” filter to select your preference for school size and environment (urban, suburban, rural).
14
Use the “credit” filter if transferring AP credits is important to you.
15
You might not be able to find colleges that meet ALL of your fit factors. You may have to adjust your filters and figure out which fit factors are negotiable for you!
