SOUNDS & LIGHTS

Welcome to the THIRD QUEST,

brave adventurers!

Candycorn loooovess anything that lights up and makes noises

(cars, baby with a flashlight, etc.). So, they need you to do the following:

  • Create a program that lights up a Splat (or Splats!) and makes a sound
    1. It can be any color light/any number of lights!
    2. It can be any sound or sounds!
  • Hint: use some (not all) of the blocks Trudy had you prepare in Quest No. 2

QUEST 4

BUILD A STOPWATCH

Welcome to the FOURTH QUEST,

brave adventurers!

Bloopers has a secret: he doesn’t really know how to tell time.

He’s working on it #goals. For now, he needs you to build him a stopwatch. So:

  • Build a program that features a stopwatch
    • You get to decide the time and how it looks
  • Hint: use some (not all) of the blocks Trudy made you prepare in Quest No. 2

QUEST 5

BUILD A GAME

Welcome to the FIFTH and FINAL QUEST,

brave adventurers!

Crash is IMPRESSED. You made it ALL the way around Unruly Island and

completed four quests to be here. Wow. Give yourself a round of applause, my friends!

Now, Crash needs you to do one last thing:

  • Create a game using the programs from quests 3 and 4.
    • The game can be ANYTHING you want. It can short and sweet like Trudy, or loud and complicated like Bloopers!
    • Don’t like games? Neither does Rowdy. What you can do instead is think of a way to use the programs to complete an everyday classroom activity, like submitting an answer in math.

EXAMPLE ON THE NEXT SLIDE!

EXAMPLE:

ELEPHANT FIREFIGHTER

THE RULES:

You’re an elephant hanging out with your friends. You all spot some grass on fire and have a competition to see who can put it out the fastest.

Stomp/Click on the Splats as fast as you can to make them all green! You must make sure ALL the Splats are green to put out the fire and win 👍

EXAMPLE:

ELEPHANT FIREFIGHTER

EXAMPLE:

SOUND & COLOR

The rules for the game

are the rules for the code!

This game is about elephants. This chunk of code plays an elephant sound and flickers the Splats red and green (to look like a prairie fire).

EXAMPLE:

ELEPHANT FIREFIGHTER

EXAMPLE:

COLOR

The rules for the game

are the rules for the code!

In order to win the game—or “put out” the fire—all of the Splats need to be green. To make it challenging, we used light splat blocks to light the Splats random colors when they are pressed. Keep pressing until they are green!

43 of 48

EXAMPLE:

ELEPHANT FIREFIGHTER

EXAMPLE:

STOPWATCH

The rules for the game

are the rules for the code!

This code is used to check if players have won! Use the if, do block to see if all the Splats are green. If they are green, stop the Stopwatch and the elephants celebrate!

RECORD YOUR TIME AND COMPETE WITH FRIENDS!

45 of 48

BUILD A GAME

YOUR TURN!

Your game must include lighting a Splat(s), playing a sound(s), and starting/stopping a stopwatch. You can add any other blocks you’d like!

IT ALSO NEEDS TO BE FUN!

46 of 48

SHARE YOUR RULES

MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE:

  • THE NAME OF YOUR GAME
  • HOW MANY SPLATS
  • HOW MANY PLAYERS
  • HOW YOU WIN (OR IF YOU CAN WIN!)
  • HOW TO PLAY
  • ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT PLAYERS TO KNOW

YOU DID IT! You completed the quest, you super awesome humans! Enjoy your banana—you earned it!
