Our Week of Learning

ELA

We are moving a little slower than expected due to me having an unexpected absence. Because of that, I had to alter plans. We focused on writing complex sentences, and we spent some time looking at text structures, prefixes, and Latin and Greek roots. Next week, we will begin paragraph writing.

Math

We will continue Unit 2 learning about the order of operations and begin long division. Students scoring below 80% on their Unit 1 test are eligible for a retake. This must be completed by Sept. 26 and they must fill out a Request to Retest form (on links below). Be sure to check our Google Photos album for which students were awarded the Math GOAT award for being the Thinker of the Week this week!

Science

This week we’ll get to complete our first Mystery Science lab. It’s about potions, witches, and wizards. Are they real? Then we get to explore some properties of matter with pennies.

Social Studies

Next week, we will begin our Geography unit. In this unit, students will learn about the Geography theme of regions. We will begin with learning about the different kinds of maps and map tools.

Note from the Teachers:

  • Please ask your child if he/she has headphones to use at school. Many have already misplaced or broken theirs. This is a necessary school supply for students to have as teachers do not have extras in their classrooms.
