We all have a superpower that we can all bring to the classroom. That’s what makes us unique and special. So what’s your child’s superpower? Maybe it’s organization or unique ideas? I just hope it’s not invisibility!

DID YOU KNOW we are all Superheroes?

Super!

Contacting me

I try to check email before school, during specials, and after school but the best way to reach me is through TalkingPoints, but please do not expect an immediate response, as I am putting my full attention into teaching in the classroom. The whole school will be using it, and it is connected through PowerSchool, so you want to make sure we have the most updated phone number. TalkingPoints Information

Volunteering

Volunteering at school is great! I would love to have a weekly volunteer to help with Friday Folders as well as someone who can help with small groups! Please let me know if you’d like to help and if you are Green Star approved!

**Remember you do not need to re-sign up if you signed up last year!

You must be a green star volunteer to go on field trips, help with field day, or to help with any other super fun activities!

Reading

Reading everyday is so important! Your child should be reading about an hour each day. This includes reading for school.

*Children can learn 2000-3000 words in a year!!!

*How can they access this many words?? READ READ READ

*How do they perform better in school? by becoming better readers! How do they become better readers? by reading! :)

*Students will have access to online reading resources as well as classroom and the school library:

~EPIC books, Big Universe, Mackenvia.

Third graders still love reading WITH their parents! Don’t give up that special time quite yet.

Folders to/from school

  • Daily folders are sent home each night with papers that need to be kept at home, work your child needs to finish, or papers that we receive from the school, WCPSS, or PTA. They also have a calendar with a daily report on the back.
  • **I DO NOT CHECK FOLDERS** if you have a note for me, please encourage your child to give it to me, or message me on TalkingPoints.
  • Friday folders will go home each Friday with papers from the week, important papers from me, the school, WCPSS, or PTA. There is also a weekly communication log for you to initial.

Check those folders!

New year, new expectations

This is a new year and there will be new expectations. Each child will be expected to be ready to go for school at 9:20. If they are absent, they will miss the lesson and class discussions, which is crucial to their understanding of concepts. Being here will allow them to learn the material needed to be

successful for 3rd grade.

Birthdays

You can send in birthday treats this year (YAY!) but please make sure they’re store bought and easily distributed. It is also policy to give a 2 days notice before sending them in. As of right now, we do not have any allergies and we have 14 students.
