The Tiwi Island Church on Bathurst Island

Sr Anne Gardiner, 92 years old. She has lived on the island for 70 years and dedicated her life to the indigenous community living with her.

Sr Anne established the museum on the island and is very knowledgeable about its history and people.

The inside of the church looks like a boat and has louvres on each side to let the breeze through. You can see many of them need repair.

You can see in this picture how some of the pieces in the church are damaged and in need of repair. Notice the beautiful patterns in this one.
