Who tf ru?
Hello friends, CA Isa here to explain why I hate myself for gearing 5 buffers. I mea- explain how to properly approach Oculus as a buffer class. I’ve been playing buffers through endgame for as long as I can remember. I hope I’m able to help some of you guys out when it comes to the Oculus.
What’s The Oculus?
The Oculus is a Special Dungeon that gets you materials needed for a “Ditto Epic”. This quest is gotten from Knight Robato, and can be completed in roughly 6 weeks of Oculus runs with VIP, about 7 without. You must be Lv 100 to attempt The Oculus.
The Ditto Epic as you can see →
With this epic, you can complete epic sets easily!
What Gears Do I Need?
Unfortunately unlike most other DPS and Synergy classes, Buffers need full sets to get the most buffing potential out of their equipment. You can’t just throw on a slapdash of random armors and accessories and expect to do well.
Generally it is agreed that a Prey or level 100 Legendary Broom/Cross is a good starting point. From there…
Great!
Not bad! Hm...might struggle. Check buff?
(this is about full 100 legs)
What else should I have? - Enchants
There is absolutely no reason you should not have enchants on every piece of equipment where enchanting is possible. The difference between a lazy player with 0 enchants and an effort-giving players with all their enchants, even if they’re not the best, is massive.
You can full enchant a Buffer for less than 10 million gold. Some of the enchants are farmable and cost 0 gold.
For FSader/Enchantress:
Top/Bottom/Weapon: INT, Magnetic Pola
For MSader:
Shoulder/Belt/Shoe: SPR or VIT, try Trauma Yom or Vice, there are many options
For All (SPR/STR/INT/VIT):
Sub-Equipment: Tied Dominic, Noblesky from Anton Raid
Earring: Luke or Kirsch
MStone: Hiram Klauf or Pandemonium Meeting Bead
Acc: Darma’s Shape, Luke, Greta/Stormy Planet
Check the Card Book or Curt’s Enchanting guide here for the best options, as I’ve just listed the bare minimum here.
Anything Else?
The Contenders: Enchantress
The Contenders: Female Crusader
The Contenders: Male Crusader
Oculus Layout
Each floor will feature a “boss”, as well as several side bosses and every floor before the last will also include a set of stairs to the next floor.
The goal is to beat the boss monster of that floor and move on. Beat any side bosses as necessary to make the dungeon easier for you (increase attack, visibility, token allotment).
The Bad(?) Guys: Tria/Lia/Nerolotte/Spooder
I’ll be 100% honest. Unless your entire party is super duper cutline unga, bunga, etc. you will never have to worry about Tria Cerebellum, Blood Lia, Nerolotte, or Volcano Spider’s Gimmicks. If you want the full details, I would suggest reading a guide for the purpose of learning gimmicks.
Your job never changes for any of these four. Keep your party alive and if you absolutely must, use 1a.
Remember: Lia and Nerolotte make your party slightly stronger for that floor and help with vision of the map. Spider increases token count (so go for it if you see it, always!). Tria is optional, and releases Merchant Nayu → This chick over here. She sells stuff but it’s mostly for DPS.
The Bad Guys: Lone Roseberry
This isn’t meant to be a complete pattern guide. There are other people who will focus on that. For right now I’m going to focus on what buffers should be doing specifically because it is often quite different than what DPS will be doing.
With that said, what you should focus on for Roseberry mainly follows two big things.
The Bad Guys: Hellcat Louise
Keep your party healed here. Louise can be deadly to anyone who’s foolish enough to walk into her AOEs without Toys - it can spell instant death.
She drops a Syringe at 90% and 40% HP. When the syringe is injected using Weapon Control Key [default TAB] (hopefully by you!), you can use your 1a.
Other than her normal patterns she isn’t too difficult. It’s just a matter of being patient
She goes through her patterns →
Charge Circle → Major Gimmick → Punches and Kicks → Charge Circle → Rinse and Repeat.
If you know what she’s going to do, she’s not too difficult to take care of. Syringe Timing → please see gif
Le syringe
The Bad Guys: Red Ghost Soryun
You have two options here:
I prefer option 1 regardless because so many times I find Soryun’s berserk gimmick to be too “difficult” for people to do. It’s very hard to get people to just patiently stand on her.
As Female or Male Sader you can use Arias, LoDs, or whatever else you need to keep your party from getting knocked around.
As Enchantress there isn’t much you can do outside keeping your party healed up.
As always, stay out of any red lines or circles you see, they will hurt you. Unless of course we’re talking about the berserk, in which case lead them to Soryun.
The BAD GAL (pray you don’t see her)
This is Crazy Soryun aka Apostle-obsessed Soryun.
If you skipped Louise or Roseberry you will get her instead of normal Soryun. She is many times more difficult than normal Soryun.
For now I’m not even going to bother putting a guide on her, even for saders, because the majority of parties at this time should just be doing normal Soryun. Maybe in the future when more people are swole, I will go in-depth for this enemy. Just do NOT skip Louise or Roseberry, and your life will be significantly easier
Even I wouldn’t bother doing Crazy Soryun with my strongest Saders, at least not with how most pubs are these days. Maybe in a few months from now...maybe.
“Dad...Mom….I-....”
Basement Dweller: Ezra
Ezra unironically is not the most difficult part of the Oculus. Just focus on avoiding the individual gimmicks he has (heavily telegraphed) and keep your DPSs alive. I know this can be hard when that one Asura player is running into Ezra as if he was offering him candy in a white van, but...just do your best.
Additionally, don’t expect to be able to properly do the berserk pattern. DFO has weird desync issues with Ezra right now. If halfway through you haven’t managed to move the Ezra clone an inch over 4 successful hits, Female Crusaders and Enchantresses get your AoE heals ready. And Male Sader prep Healing Wind and anything else you might need to tank the blow
I would 1a immediately on entering or take it through the previous floor if possible. The tokens all belong to you. Don’t let the Asura think otherwise.
Perry stealing my tokens
Colorized
And that’s it!
Ezra may drop an ebin or meethicc and you may get a flip at the end which could be a card or extra goodies for your aforementioned Robato quest.
YOU DID IT. Yay! Congratulations and get ready for 6 more weeks of this xD
Special Thanks To…
Perry for carrying me and also taking my tokens and also taking me back to town because I’m too lazy to walk to stairs.
Curt for letting me link his awesome enchanting guide in this guide
Neople for continuing to service DFO.
DK for being such a great DFO employee. Good luck my dude. You’ll be great out there.
