Who tf ru?

Hello friends, CA Isa here to explain why I hate myself for gearing 5 buffers. I mea- explain how to properly approach Oculus as a buffer class. I’ve been playing buffers through endgame for as long as I can remember. I hope I’m able to help some of you guys out when it comes to the Oculus.

What’s The Oculus?

The Oculus is a Special Dungeon that gets you materials needed for a “Ditto Epic”. This quest is gotten from Knight Robato, and can be completed in roughly 6 weeks of Oculus runs with VIP, about 7 without. You must be Lv 100 to attempt The Oculus.

The Ditto Epic as you can see →

  • Can be transformed into any 100 epic that isn’t a Mythic or Weapon
  • Can be transformed any number of times

With this epic, you can complete epic sets easily!

What Gears Do I Need?

Unfortunately unlike most other DPS and Synergy classes, Buffers need full sets to get the most buffing potential out of their equipment. You can’t just throw on a slapdash of random armors and accessories and expect to do well.

Generally it is agreed that a Prey or level 100 Legendary Broom/Cross is a good starting point. From there…

  • You want to aim for full level 100 legendaries, obtainable from Land of Memories or Bottomless Tunnel.
  • If you’re an older player coming back after a while, Supertayberrs and one set of Prey Gear, be it Acc or Sp Acc, should be fine. Or use 100 legendaries to fill in as needed.
  • You should be aiming to get your buffing numbers around 20000 STR/INT, combining main buff and 1a and 1a passive, as well as any strengtheners such as 1.3x modifier for main buff on Female Saders from Aria and 1.25x modifier for main buff on Enchantresses from Destiny Puppet. Max 2a stack on MSader.

Great!

Not bad! Hm...might struggle. Check buff?

(this is about full 100 legs)

What else should I have? - Enchants

There is absolutely no reason you should not have enchants on every piece of equipment where enchanting is possible. The difference between a lazy player with 0 enchants and an effort-giving players with all their enchants, even if they’re not the best, is massive.

You can full enchant a Buffer for less than 10 million gold. Some of the enchants are farmable and cost 0 gold.

For FSader/Enchantress:

Top/Bottom/Weapon: INT, Magnetic Pola

For MSader:

Shoulder/Belt/Shoe: SPR or VIT, try Trauma Yom or Vice, there are many options

For All (SPR/STR/INT/VIT):

Sub-Equipment: Tied Dominic, Noblesky from Anton Raid

Earring: Luke or Kirsch

MStone: Hiram Klauf or Pandemonium Meeting Bead

Acc: Darma’s Shape, Luke, Greta/Stormy Planet

Check the Card Book or Curt’s Enchanting guide here for the best options, as I’ve just listed the bare minimum here.

Anything Else?

  • Title: You want a title for + levels to main buff and 1a. In a perfect world you’d have +3 Main Buff and +2 1a, but +2/+1 works. If you’re really trying to save money, usually a +1 1a which also has a level range of 15-35 also works. You can use it for both your buff AI → as well as on your body
  • Avatars: Please invest in avatars and at the very least bronze or silver Emblems.
    • Top and Bottom avatars for Plat Emblems: When you can afford them for even more levels to buff
  • Creature: A levels creature for your buff AI would be ideal, followed by a stat creature for your 1a. If you can’t get a stat creature for 1a, just wear your buff swap creature on your body as well. Or the Marbas Creature which can be charged for a power boost for your party every 2 minutes.
  • Exorcism: It’s alright and quite normal if your exorcism is a little bit lower than the 5750 required to run. Exorcism penalties only affect your damage and survivability, but not your buff. You can get by as long as you are smart about how you play!

The Contenders: Enchantress

  • Enchantress is considered “the best” buffer. This is the case because she buffs well, has great healing, utility, etc.
  • If you’re playing Enchantress, please, please, PLEASE activate a Red Cube Contract and take along Oil Flasks. You can use these to stack your dolls wherever, even in an empty room!
  • Please never use Hot Affection, even if you’re a weaker enchantress. The dolls are better spent elsewhere, like reviving your teammate or using Destiny Puppet.
  • Always spam your low level healing whenever you see someone is hurt. Reserve First Aid of Love for when you are in danger.
  • Max Mana Shield and Phase Shift. You are still a Female Mage, take advantage of it!
  • You can use your 2a to Extend the end of your 1a. If done so correctly, you can add another 7 seconds or so to your 1a, increasing your party’s burst damage noticeably!

8 of 18

The Contenders: Female Crusader

  • Female Crusader is by far the weakest buffing, but the most reliable buffer. She doesn’t have to worry about the doll mechanic that Enchantress has to worry about.
  • Please don’t forget to use Light of Divinity or Uriel’s Ward especially during more difficult patterns. They can reduce damage immensely and save your party from death!
  • Like Enchantress, Female Crusader has multiple heals. Please do not be stingy about using them!
  • Female Crusader and Enchantress can take their 1a to multiple rooms and floors. Keep that in mind if you have it available before going to the next floor. Below I’ve given an example of this at work. It shows an Enchantress doing the trick, but Female Crusader can as well!
  • You can do the same with Valiant Aria, Archangel’s Blessing, etc, but their effects aren’t as huge.

9 of 18

The Contenders: Male Crusader

  • Male Sader honestly has it the toughest out there.
  • No fancy gifs here.
  • Make sure you use Fountain of Life on your teammates early on and keep using it on other ones to protect your life tokens. Use it before going to the next floor for a free reset.
  • You will be able to max stack Ascension (2a) every floor. Keep that in mind.
  • Apocalypse (1a) will not follow you to the next floor. Unlike the previous two buffers, you may have the strongest overall buffs for a 4 man party, but you’re going to have to WORK for em.
  • Keep your cool, heal up, Divine Flash, heal up some more, Fountain, Light of Divinity, and pray you make it in and out and kill each floor boss in the time allotted by your buffs
  • Godspeed.

Oculus Layout

Each floor will feature a “boss”, as well as several side bosses and every floor before the last will also include a set of stairs to the next floor.

The goal is to beat the boss monster of that floor and move on. Beat any side bosses as necessary to make the dungeon easier for you (increase attack, visibility, token allotment).

The Bad(?) Guys: Tria/Lia/Nerolotte/Spooder

I’ll be 100% honest. Unless your entire party is super duper cutline unga, bunga, etc. you will never have to worry about Tria Cerebellum, Blood Lia, Nerolotte, or Volcano Spider’s Gimmicks. If you want the full details, I would suggest reading a guide for the purpose of learning gimmicks.

Your job never changes for any of these four. Keep your party alive and if you absolutely must, use 1a.

Remember: Lia and Nerolotte make your party slightly stronger for that floor and help with vision of the map. Spider increases token count (so go for it if you see it, always!). Tria is optional, and releases Merchant Nayu → This chick over here. She sells stuff but it’s mostly for DPS.

12 of 18

The Bad Guys: Lone Roseberry

This isn’t meant to be a complete pattern guide. There are other people who will focus on that. For right now I’m going to focus on what buffers should be doing specifically because it is often quite different than what DPS will be doing.

With that said, what you should focus on for Roseberry mainly follows two big things.

  1. Is your party huge dick damage? If yes, you can 1a at the beginning and hope you guys mostly finish him off. If no, wait until he berserks. Berserk looks like Asura 2a. If you don’t know what Asura 2a looks like, please see →
  2. If you do see Big Blue Lion and have no 1a, this is where you should be finding out how best to kill yourself quickly because if your party doesn’t do enough damage during this phase, he will deal a sizable amount of damage to you all. And I’ve seen quite a few party wipes from this.
  3. I said 2 but I’m including a third. Keep your party healed. There’s always going to be that one annoying DPS that thinks the damage lines are some kind of taffy candy and will run into each and every single one. Get used to it.

The Bad Guys: Hellcat Louise

Keep your party healed here. Louise can be deadly to anyone who’s foolish enough to walk into her AOEs without Toys - it can spell instant death.

She drops a Syringe at 90% and 40% HP. When the syringe is injected using Weapon Control Key [default TAB] (hopefully by you!), you can use your 1a.

Other than her normal patterns she isn’t too difficult. It’s just a matter of being patient

She goes through her patterns →

Charge Circle → Major Gimmick → Punches and Kicks → Charge Circle → Rinse and Repeat.

If you know what she’s going to do, she’s not too difficult to take care of. Syringe Timing → please see gif

The Bad Guys: Red Ghost Soryun

You have two options here:

  1. 1a immediately if your party is huge
  2. Wait for berserk and 1a

I prefer option 1 regardless because so many times I find Soryun’s berserk gimmick to be too “difficult” for people to do. It’s very hard to get people to just patiently stand on her.

As Female or Male Sader you can use Arias, LoDs, or whatever else you need to keep your party from getting knocked around.

As Enchantress there isn’t much you can do outside keeping your party healed up.

As always, stay out of any red lines or circles you see, they will hurt you. Unless of course we’re talking about the berserk, in which case lead them to Soryun.

The BAD GAL (pray you don’t see her)

This is Crazy Soryun aka Apostle-obsessed Soryun.

If you skipped Louise or Roseberry you will get her instead of normal Soryun. She is many times more difficult than normal Soryun.

For now I’m not even going to bother putting a guide on her, even for saders, because the majority of parties at this time should just be doing normal Soryun. Maybe in the future when more people are swole, I will go in-depth for this enemy. Just do NOT skip Louise or Roseberry, and your life will be significantly easier

Even I wouldn’t bother doing Crazy Soryun with my strongest Saders, at least not with how most pubs are these days. Maybe in a few months from now...maybe.

Basement Dweller: Ezra

Ezra unironically is not the most difficult part of the Oculus. Just focus on avoiding the individual gimmicks he has (heavily telegraphed) and keep your DPSs alive. I know this can be hard when that one Asura player is running into Ezra as if he was offering him candy in a white van, but...just do your best.

Additionally, don’t expect to be able to properly do the berserk pattern. DFO has weird desync issues with Ezra right now. If halfway through you haven’t managed to move the Ezra clone an inch over 4 successful hits, Female Crusaders and Enchantresses get your AoE heals ready. And Male Sader prep Healing Wind and anything else you might need to tank the blow

I would 1a immediately on entering or take it through the previous floor if possible. The tokens all belong to you. Don’t let the Asura think otherwise.

And that’s it!

Ezra may drop an ebin or meethicc and you may get a flip at the end which could be a card or extra goodies for your aforementioned Robato quest.

YOU DID IT. Yay! Congratulations and get ready for 6 more weeks of this xD
