Letters to the Earth

Taking Climate Action Against Climate Change

2 of 17

Prayer for Climate Action

Creator God,You formed the Earth in beauty and balance,A gift entrusted to our care.We stand in awe of mountains, oceans, forests, and skiesAnd we grieve the harm we have caused.

Grant us the wisdom to see clearly,The courage to act boldly,And the humility to learn from those most affected.

May our choices reflect justice,Our voices speak truth,And our hands work to heal what has been broken.

Teach us to live simply,To consume mindfully,And to advocate fiercely for the future of all life.

Let our climate action be an act of loveFor our neighbours, for generations to come,And for You, the Source of all life.

Amen.

Learned and Wise

Learned, finding God in all things; and wise in the ways you use your learning for the common good.

Colossians 1:16-17 “For in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible... all things have been created through him and for him. He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”

To world leaders and policymakers…

You need to include a plea to the leaders for the following goals:

✅ Concrete mechanisms to cancel the debt of the poorest countries

✅ Strengthen and clarify regulations for the Loss and Damage Fund

✅ Establish clear goals for a fair energy transition

✅ Develop a global food system rooted in agro-ecological practices

Be wise in how you can put your message across to those who can implement change

What can you do?

Now that momentum is rising in the lead up to the COP conference in November, send a copy of your letter to your elected representatives:

  • Local MP
  • Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero
  • Prime Minister
  • Or all of them – with a note explaining why you have written a Letter to the Earth challenging political representatives to work harder to tackle climate change and environmental damage.

Be active and tell politicians how you feel about the damage to our Common Home
