Programs
- RCM focal areas (among others): environmental monitoring, incl. ice; maritime surveillance; agriculture; disaster management
- smartEarth: fostering smart use of satellite data for addressing key challenges on Earth in our everyday lives
- STEDiA (Science, Technology & Expertise Development in Academia): developing the next generation by supporting research projects & offering opportunities that enable students to gain hands-on experience
- Documentation (new, Jan. 2022): Canada’s Strategy for Satellite Earth Observation
Upcoming Activities relevant to CEOS WG CapD
- Indigenous Mapping Workshop 2022: annual event with focus on geospatial training for & with indigenous communities; in cooperation with NASA, including the preparation and delivery of optical & radar remote sensing related sessions
- Development of online materials with a focus on Canadian applications of radar EO activities, following the 2021 launch of the MOOC ‘Winter, Water, Warming’ in cooperation with the European EO-College learning platform
- Planned cooperation with NASA’s Ames Research Center / BAERI on Earth observation education
- CSA’s Satellite Art initiative to engage public at large in Earth observations across Canada
