You have Constitutional Rights in the USA.
What does this mean?
You have Constitutional Rights in the USA.
People must follow laws.
The government must also follow laws.
The Bill of Rights in the Constitution protects people’s freedom.
Your Constitutional Rights:
You can have a red card.
You have the right to remain silent.
What does it mean to remain silent?
You have the right to remain silent.
You do not have to say anything to an immigration agent if they try to talk to you.
You have rights in your home.
You do not have to open the door of your home if an immigration agent knocks.
You have rights in your home.
You can give your red card to the agent without opening the door.

Immigration agents need a search warrant to enter your home.

If ICE is talking to you outside, you can say:
“Am I free to leave?”
If they say: “Yes”
You can walk away. You do not have to answer any questions.
If they say: “No”
You cannot walk away.
You can have a lawyer.
When do you need a lawyer?
You can have a lawyer.
You can wait until you have a lawyer with you to answer questions or sign papers.
Remember
You always have these rights.
Sometimes, it is not safe to use them.
You must decide what is safe for you.
