Fortune 1000 boards are adapting to the continuous and accelerated impact of AI on their companies. While corporate boards have made progress adding diverse perspectives to the boardroom, AI expertise is in short supply. Stanford Women on Boards recognizes the need of corporate boards to add AI savvy senior executives who can help steward and guide companies to prosper in this AI era. To expedite the readiness of senior AI executives for board service, Stanford Women on Boards is launching the Board Accelerator for AI Experts Program.

This focused program covers important board-related topics including Governance Fundamentals, Strategy and Value Creation, Risk Management, Regulation and Compliance, Ethical AI, Human Capital and Workforce Management. The program combines 6 live virtual sessions with industry experts, monthly curated content featuring best in class articles, white papers and videos, and up to 4 one on one mentoring sessions with a seasoned board director to focus your board journey. The accelerator concludes at the Stanford Rock Center’s Directors’ College 101 program at Stanford.

We are extending this unique invitation directly to you based on your rich experience and relevant background. The program kicks off in January 2026 and is designed for working professionals. It will require approximately 5-8 hours per month. The Board Governance Accelerator Program for AI Experts is sponsored by Stanford Women on Boards and is limited to 15 participants. Apply by December 22^nd to accelerate your journey to the boardroom, and position yourself as part of an elite and unique pool of AI savvy board prospects.

Program Overview

We are seeking accomplished AI professionals to participate in an intensive board-readiness course designed to prepare technology leaders for service on private and public company boards. This program bridges the gap between deep AI expertise and the governance capabilities required for effective board service in today's rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Selection Criteria

Final selection will prioritize candidates who demonstrate:

Strong combination of business acumen (P&L experience) and AI expertise
Existing governance foundation through board service or boardroom exposure
Employment context that provides credibility (AI company or prominent AI role)
Risk management or governance capabilities relevant to AI oversight
Clear readiness to transition to private or public company board service within 12-24 months
Ability to contribute to boardroom discussions beyond technical expertise

Ideal Candidate Profile

Candidates should be recognized AI experts with substantial leadership experience who aspire to public company board service. This program is designed for AI leaders who have already demonstrated boardroom readiness through private company, nonprofit board service or senior-level board interactions and are prepared to elevate their governance capabilities to meet the demands of public company oversight during this critical period of AI transformation.
