Sarasota Military Academy showed 50/50 to each grade and then spent the day learning about famous female mathematicians, scientists, artists, etc. At the end of the day, they formed a giant 50/50 in the field, videotaping it with a drone, and sharing it with hashtag #Gettingto5050

Other Ideas!

San Francisco Unified School District worked with the Associate Superintendent and Director of Postsecondary Success to host a 50/50 Day at many schools in the district. Some schools held assemblies, others screened the film in their homerooms, many came up with their own initiatives to engage 56,000 students across the district.

“Reflecting on the impact of 50/50 Day had on our school can be described in three words: Transformative, Empowering, and Solidarity. The day itself not only brought the students, but the staff closer...By simply balancing the equation, even for a single day, male students began referring to female students who started self-advocating as the next Susan B. Anthony or Alice Paul...The day set the groundwork for opening up serious dialogue about the forgotten heroes of yesterday...it has created a here and now mentality for our young female students that want to elicit change in the present and not in the future. We now are building an Equality Club that is designed to motivate and engage young females to be more involved in the school and the community. When on the first day of school we have both females and males ask, “When is 50/50 Day this year” the impact is evident.”
