Body Type Strategy

Wardrobe dos:

  • Lighter colors @ bust and hips, darker @ waist
  • Peplum shapes to define waist and add volume to hips
  • Scoop/round necklines to soften straight figure
  • Trim elements, embellishments, and extra material @ bust area to create volume
  • Boat necklines and cap/short sleeves to widen bust/shoulder level
  • Lower-rise bottoms to widen hips
  • Full, A-line, and tulip skirts to create contrast in volume to waist
  • Skinny jeans to create illusion of wider hips
  • Hip-length jackets and sleeves to add volume to lower half

Wardrobe don’ts

  • Shift (boxy) dresses only enhance straight shape
  • Square and V-necklines don’t soften straight lines
  • Drop-waist dresses hide any curves

Closet Edit Tips

  • Remove anything that does not bring you joy; store anything sentimental but unwearable, donate or toss anything that makes you feel guilty, insecure, etc.
  • As you come across items you want to keep but might need minor alterations (hem, dart, princess seam) create a tailoring pile- we can review these items during your try-on session.

Video Backdrop Ideas

  • The blue panels are actually great but filling the white space undeath with pillows (the orange you had before are great!) is a must.
  • We can discuss on your next session if you’d like to pull-in a backdrop whenever you record a video- there are so many cool ones that we could make a few recommendations but I think sticking with the blue and adding pillow- is a much simpler idea.
