Student Incentives

  • Students seen following SPARK expectations in classes, hallway, cafeteria or anywhere else on campus will be rewarded with SPARK BUCKS by teachers & staff!
  • SPARK bucks can be used to buy items in the CLUB SPARK during lunch (Tues/Thurs).

  • Student who go above SPARK expectations can be nominated weekly by teachers for a Positive Recognition Form!

Prize for Recognition: Positive phone call home, a treat from Club Spark, lunch with a buddy in Club Spark & name placed in weekly drawing for Student of the Week!

School Procedures

State law (HB 1105):

ALL ELECTRONICS (Phones, Earbuds, Headphones, etc…) are prohibited during school hours from 9:25-4:05.

  • Must remain SILENT & in backpacks AT ALL TIMES, not your pocket!

  • Must be in class BEFORE the bell rings to be considered on time.

  • Do not go to clinic or other teacher’s class in between classes WITHOUT your scheduled teacher’s permission!

  • Do not go to random teachers/office to ask for a tardy pass.

Hierarchy of Consequences

*Some discipline will require that a hierarchy is not followed due to the severity of the behavior.

Ex- fighting, bullying, tobacco, drugs, weapons, unsafe acts, etc.

Dress Code

*ID should be accessible at all times.

*We will follow a hierarchy of consequences for students that do not follow the SCPS dress code.

ID cards

  • It is your responsibility to make sure you have your student ID card to get into buildings.
  • If you do not have your card, walk to guidance to ask for someone to let you into your building.
  • Students should have their IDs accessible to them at all times.

*Please note that this does not excuse you from being tardy.

Lunch Expectations

  • Leave backpacks in class on Wednesday and Thursday block days (B lunch)
  • Remain in the area you pick to sit
  • You may not travel to teacher classrooms
  • Stay seated and raise your hand to get permission to get up
  • Try to make all purchases in one trip
  • Wait until dismissed before getting up
  • Clean up all trash in your area
  • No electronic devices at lunch, even in the bathroom.

Hallway Passes

Students must create a Minga pass ANYTIME they leave the classroom!

MINGA Violations will follow Hierarchy of Consequences

Go straight to your location, take care of business, and go straight back to class. Be mindful that others need to go too and only one person can leave at a time.

  1. DO NOT Stay out Past your Allotted Time

Use the closest restroom/water fountain to your classroom. Let your teacher know if you think you may need extended time for some reason.

2. DO NOT Go Anywhere Other than the Location on your Pass

3. DO NOT Take your Phone with You

Phones are to remain in backpack during school hours. Do not have your phone in the halls or restrooms.

SCPS HONOR CODE

Students of SCPS shall refrain from all forms of academic dishonesty, such as cheating, plagiarism (copying answers or work that are not their own), inappropriate use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated work, misuse of electronic communication, or other deceitful means of obtaining grades on tests or assignments. In addition to receiving all consequences listed below, students found in violation of the Honor Code will lose additional academic and extracurricular privileges including participation in sports and school events.

1st Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & Saturday School 2 hours

2nd Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & Saturday School 3 hours

3rd Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & out-of-school suspension

How do I break the Honor Code??

  • Using or being in possession of an electronic device at any time during a test or quiz

  • Copying, handwritten or electronically, from or allowing another student to copy from a test, homework, or other coursework-which is not intended to be collaborative or group work

  • Taking someone else's assignment or portion of an assignment and submitting it as your own

  • Using an electronic device of any kind to take a picture and transfer someone else’s answers or questions to a test, quiz or assignment

  • Reporting to another student what is on a test or quiz, including providing questions or specific answers

How do I break the Honor Code??

  • Using any secretive methods of giving or getting answers on a test or quiz, including cheat sheet or any other unauthorized aide(s).

  • Opening another browser tab on a laptop or computer during a testing session.

  • Using the internet or apps to inappropriately obtain or attempt to obtain credit for academic work (using Google, AI, ChatGPT, etc. and submitting as your own work).

Reminder of Consequences:

1st Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & Saturday School-2 hours

2nd Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & Saturday School-3 hours

3rd Offense: Zero on assignment, parent contact, & out-of-school suspension

You will also lose privileges to participate in sports and other extracurricular activities!

Witness Statements

  • DO NOT ask teacher to leave class to fill out a statement unless you need immediate help. Ask teacher for a copy to fill out on your own time or you can pick one up from guidance between classes.
  • Return completed form to your Dean or guidance office in between classes or at lunch.
  • You will not be allowed out of class to complete a witness statement.
