Academic Advising:

Challenges::

The low attendance rate (42.6%) of students who seek academic advising indicates that a significant number of students did not participate in the Advisor-Advisee Meeting. This may limit the effectiveness of the service, as many students might miss critical information about midterm deficiencies, academic support resources, and success strategies. Lack of engagement in such meetings can lead to students being unaware of their academic standing and failing to take necessary corrective actions.

Recommendations: .

To improve participation, consider implementing multiple engagement strategies, such as:

    • Mandatory Attendance Policy – Link participation to an incentive, such as extra credit, priority advising, or early registration access.
    • Flexible Scheduling – Offer multiple session times to accommodate students with conflicting commitments.
    • Interactive Sessions – Incorporate engaging activities, such as peer discussions, success stories, and real-life case studies, to encourage participation.
    • Advance Communication & Reminders – Use email, Moodle and faculty/SS staff announcements to remind students about Academic advising sessions and emphasize its importance.
