Income.
Narrative:
An average of 29 veterans per month enter the homeless system for the first time with income. This accounts for 67% of new inflow.
An average of 15 veterans per month enter the homeless system for the first time without income. This accounts for 33% of new inflow.

Income Brackets.
Narrative:
Most of the veterans coming into the system for the first time fall under the “Extremely Low Income” bracket (Less than 30% of AMI).

Disabling Condition.
Narrative:
An average of 33 veterans per month enter the homeless system for the first time has a disability. This accounts for 73% of veterans entering the system for the first time.
An average of 9 veterans per month enter the homeless system for the first time has a disability. This accounts for 20% of veterans entering the system for the first time.

Disability Type.
Narrative:
Almost half (46%) of veterans entering the homeless system have a Mental Health Disorder. 38% of veterans have a Chronic Health Condition, 38% have a physical disability and 27% report to having a substance use disorder.

Age.
Narrative:
There are more veterans entering the homeless system the first time who are aged 35-44 than other age categories (23%) However, the distribution of ages is fairly even, with no one age category disproportionately representing veterans in the system.

Race/Ethnicity.

The majority of veterans entering the system are white (42%). However, it is important to compare this to the general population data to highlight any disparity .
30% of veterans entering the system are Black/African American, which is an over-representation compared with the general population (5.7%)
