Universal ball - team skills

- Two teams on opposite sides of the court.��- Teacher calls out the number of players, that� number of players run around the goal post� and onto the court��- Teacher throws either a basketball, netball,� soccerball, frisbee onto the court��- The teams vs each other until a goal is� scored, then rejoin their team at back of line.��

passing & catching - week 11

  1. Watch how to do the drill.
  2. Split into three teams - 10min�
  3. Game rules - 20 min - practise skills
  4. One shooter and one defender from each team in semi circle only.
  5. When a team scores, the other team starts behind the baseline.
  6. No stepping when you have the ball
  7. 3 seconds to pass
  8. Defend from 1 meter away from player.
  9. Teams rotate around after 1-2 goals.

Rules

  • If a player is hit by a ball on the full or after one bounce they’re out
  • Players can only be hit from the shoulders down
  • You can only have one ball at a time (for 5 seconds)�
  • If a player catches a ball, �a person can rejoin their team.�(this rule changes with Walk the Plank)

MindfulnessLaughing Recess. The best kind of present moment awareness is the kind that occurs spontaneously-with a belly laugh attached. �Find something you know you find funny and have a good laugh!

Energised!Sock Basketball:

Ball up a few pairs of socks, get a laundry basket and you’re all set. Take turns shooting to score, and if you’re up for more of a challenge, switch to a small ‘goal’ or take a step backwards and go for the long shot. Either play a competition against another person in your bubble or see how many shots you can get in a row.

MindfulnessLie down on your back and pay attention to your heart beat for a minute. Think of how fast it is going and how heavy it is pulsing. �Jump up and sprint on the spot for 30 seconds and then lie down and do the same. Wait until it beats normally again.

Term 2 Week 1 - Circuit training

Circuit training is where you set up 5 - 10 ‘stations’ that work on different muscular areas of your body.

For example:�Spend 45 seconds at each of these stations:

1. push ups (upper body)�2. Sit ups (abdominal)�3. Jump rope (upper & lower body)� Do without a skipping rope�4. Burpees (core - whole body)�5. Squats (quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes)�6. Handstand ( core - whole body)

Activity - Use the video to help choose movements that hit different muscular groups�1. Create your own stations (5-10 different ones) that will work at home. �2. Spend 30 seconds at each station. Complete the circuit three times. �3. Get your whānau involved, make it fun or competitive! Try and improve your skills everyday.�4. Video your circuit training or take a photo of your station list - post on your blog! (optional)

Adaptations to game:

  • One ball in each quarter not beanbags
  • Can throw the ball back to your ‘safe zone’ quarter, only if one of your players catches it. Or you can run it.
  • You can stay safe in another team’s ‘small square’ BUT once you grab a ball you return to your safe zone.
  • Only one person from your team can be in the ‘small square’ of another zone. E.g only one blue player in green teams small square
  • First team to get all three balls in their zone wins.
