BUSINESS MISSION TO CURRICULUM GOAL

CURRICULUM GOAL

Our curriculum delivers intensive lifestyle intervention, empowering members to make the habit changes to shift their biology for metabolic health success.

CALIBRATE MISSION

Calibrate is changing the way the world treats weight.

4 of 39

HOW WILL WE DO THIS?

4

Change the perception of making habit changes.

Tiny, Gradual Tweaks

Most of our members have tried other weight loss programs but have had only short-term results.

As habit changes take time, the content is delivered at 2 week increments to reduce overwhelm. These tiny wins build into large wins by the end of the year program.

This is already part of our curriculum.

Bite-Sized Learning

Many programs stick to a text or audio-only experience for members. This tells members what to do, but doesn’t provide a thoughtful experience.

Our curriculum provides multiple ways to consume content allowing people to learn how works best for them.

This will be included in phase one of the curriculum redesign.

Customized Experience

Each member has a different experience with weight loss and our four pillars.

Based on self-identified preferences and coaching support, our curriculum allows for flexibility through achievable goals and customizable content.

We would like to implement this in a future state of the curriculum.

Incentive-Designed

Intrinsic motivators only go so far to engage members consistently over a long period of time.

To create a “sticky” experience, we will use points, badges and personal scoreboards for in-app motivation.

This will be planned for a future iteration of the curriculum.

OUR BRAND VALUES DIFFERENTIATE OUR CURRICULUM

6 of 39

OUR CURRICULUM REFLECTS OUR VALUES

6

Real Results Matter.

Habits change only when they are done consistently. At the end of each level, members will be surveyed on the frequency they’ve been able to practice each goal in their day-to-day routine.

These metrics from the results will be used to iterate on the curriculum, and inform new classes/lessons.

7 of 39

OUR CURRICULUM REFLECTS OUR VALUES

7

You’re in Control.

Members need a learning experience that empowers them in the ways they need. Members come into Calibrate with different backgrounds and experiences. The modular aspect of our curriculum will adjust based on key factors that members identify.

This customized experience is an important differentiator from other weight loss programs on the market.

8 of 39

OUR CURRICULUM REFLECTS OUR VALUES

8

In it Together.

How members achieve each goal will be showcased throughout the curriculum. This includes members sharing tools, tricks and emotions around their experience for each class.

9 of 39

OUR CURRICULUM REFLECTS OUR VALUES

9

Small Wins Create Big Wins.

In addition to each class covering one specific goal that ladders up to ultimate program progress, we will incorporate reflections and check-ins throughout the year long program. These points of engagement support members in internalizing content and taking action which is the ultimate goal.

CURRICULUM

OVERVIEW

While the entire learning experience will be cohesive, each phase (L1/L2, L3/L4 and Y2) will adjust slightly based on learning objectives and curriculum focus.

20 of 39

ADJUSTMENTS TO CURRICULUM

20

The current content in the curriculum clearly supports the goals of each level. As a result, the curriculum will enhance rather than redesign our current content to help members more easily take action on their goals. Below are the highlights of will and will not be adjusted in future versions of the curriculum. The following slides will explain some of the major differences in the learning experience for the various levels.

No Adjustments

Text-based lessons will continue to be available.

Curriculum structure will not be modified.

Planned V1 Adjustments

Multiple forms of multimedia to be added that provide options for visual, auditory, and text-preferred learners. This includes audio for all text-based lessons.

The learning experience will guide members through each stage of their learning journey.

Onboarding will be included to the curriculum navigation.

Assessment questions and reflection prompts will be added.

Planned V2 Adjustments

New classes will be built for nuanced needs (ie: diabetes, hypertension, etc.)

Tailored learning paths based on specific member needs.

Incentive-based learning experience with badges, points and rewards.

21 of 39

ONBOARDING TO CURRICULUM

21

This learning experience will include a lot of different types of multimedia and exercises. If members are not experienced with mobile learning, they might encounter frustration setting them up for a bad learner experience. Because of this, our curriculum shows members how to navigate through the content in a streamlined method.

Reduce friction

This ensures quick adoption of the our curriculum helping to mitigate any confusion with the experience.

Supported from day 1

Any new experience can be overwhelming and cause frustration. In response, this can lead to drop off and discourage towards future learning.

EXAMPLE

LEVEL 1 & 2

23

At the beginning of the program, most members are excited to get started. In the curriculum, we want to encourage this enthusiasm yet show how our program is different from other weight loss programs by leading members through incremental, science-backed changes. As level one focuses on the core learning and level 2 focuses on practicing, this part of the program is truly where members are learning and building the foundational habits they’ll continue throughout the program.

Nuanced Based

From interviews, most members think they ‘know’ what they need to do, but the science-backed nuances of each habit are less known. In essence, we see this as re-education around the core pillars and Calibrate goals.

The levels focus on the specificity of each habit assessed through comprehension questions.

Additional Support

When adjustments are needed to members’ habits, we will have just-in-time classes integrated seamlessly in the curriculum. These modularized adaptations will be based on questionnaires used to create a personalized learning experience.

We will define these resources based on the common areas for troubleshooting and deeper dives. From there, we will create learning tools and one-pagers.

LEVEL 3 & 4

25

Reflect on Habits

As you build consistent habits, your day-to-day life changes. At this stage, members will reflect on how they integrate these habits into their daily practice.

To support this, reflection questions will be included in each lesson. These will also be added in the coach job aids to reinforce the curriculum.

Real Life Change

The real world brings complexities to our habits. As we make adjustments, consciousness-building strategies can support overcoming difficult situations.

Building on community and being in it together, Masters members will share how they have turned habits into lifelong adjustments.

By now, members already have put habits into action. At this point, they are refining these habits based on what they need to do to continue them in real life. Level three focuses on setting the changes made in the first half of the program, and level four focuses on sustaining long-term habits. Members internalize habits and bring them into self-actualization.

YEAR 2 AND BEYOND

27

Back on Track

After completing the One Year Metabolic Reset program and tapering off GLP-1s, members might need reminders of the core habits and how to integrate them into their lives consistently.

This part of the curriculum will revisit foundational topics and materials with a new lens as well as providing material for troubleshooting and deep dives. Member experiences around how they adapted to these changes will augment the learning . As well as providing material for troubleshooting and deep dives.

Goal Focused

Using Masters surveys and coaching feedback, members can identify what they want to work on in continuing Calibrate programs. (These don’t always need to be lasting habit but can move to more time-limited achievable goals).

The curriculum can support the most common goals through tips and strategies to help members bring them into fruition.

After completing the One Year Metabolic Reset curriculum and having moved off GLP-1s, members are reminded of what has worked for their success with tracking and following the program’s habit changes. While tapering off medication is an adjustment, the curriculum will help members troubleshoot if things get off class. Additionally, the curriculum will motivate, inspire, and connect members to continue to optimize their habits and set new goals. As members have fewer coaching sessions, they need compelling content that brings them back into the program.

PERSONAS

These are based on member and coach interviews. The quotes are directly from our members, Reddit and Quora discussions. In building out the materials for the v2 of the curriculum, these personas will become important for the learning design team to keep in mind to build with empathy for our members. As we continue to learn and deepen our understanding of members, we will update personas accordingly.

CONNIE THE CRITICAL

“I wanted to like this food because I get tired of cooking, but we hated the taste of these.”

“I tried this workout, but started feeling pain the second I started to do the exercise.”

“I started using a sleep mask, but it didn’t help me at all sleep better.”

Connie just doesn’t feel ready to commit to a new regimen. She might have had an injury or another medical condition, but regardless she’s reluctant to try something new. She doesn’t realize this, but she usually finds a way to justify not following through with the change to her habits.

WILMA

THE WILLING

“After just 5 days, I ate 500 calories over my limit and haven’t continued since.”

“I ended up giving keto a try and was amazed with my results. The recipes are great and I can cook for my family too. The problem is that I couldn’t do it in the long term.”

“I’m 51 years old and so sick of the diets. I’m overweight and need an easy plan to help me feel healthy. Someone help me!!!

Wilma is open to trying something new, but a bit cautious. She has already tried other weight loss and fitness programs, but has not found the one that works best for her in the long term. She feels that she knows what to do, but needs something to keep her on the right track.

Her experience with diet revolves around counting calories and if she falls off this prescriptive program, she has failed in her weight loss efforts.

BETTY

THE BUFF

“Exercise suggestions are ok but more for people just getting started. I already hike every weekend and do strength training a few times a week.”

“I’ve found the cutting my calories is enough to lose weight. That’s all you need to do to get skinny.”

“Yeah, I am overweight but not for lack of trying. I eat healthy and workout often. Why can’t it stick?”

Betty already practices many of the habits in our program, and is already doing so much more than what the content suggests. She knows what works best for her and doesn’t feel she needs anything else. Because she feels that she’s in a good place with her practices, she is less inclined to try something different.

DANNY

THE DEFEATED

“It must be a fluke since I went from ok to full diabetes and completely skipped pre diabetes. What do I need to change?

“Honestly it’s stressful getting this news today. What the hell is wrong with me?”

“My blood sugar is so high but I didn’t eat anything today. I am beyond sick with this disease.

Danny was told by his doctor that he must lose weight or else he will get a chronic disease like diabetes. He knows he needs to change his practices, but feels overwhelmed. He needs a lot of support and most likely medications to assist him while changing his habits.
